Colere’s spring performances will include appearances at two exciting events - the Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival (Feb. 21-22) and the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference (Mar. 6-9). Held on the campus of Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, the Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival (SMSF) is an annual event that celebrates new and experimental music for saxophone. The two-day festival features both soloists and chamber ensembles and includes multiple concerts and pedagogical events. In keeping with the mission of the festival, Colere will present a diverse program consisting entirely of works written for saxophone quartet within the last 20 years. In addition to the world premier of Alexandros Spyrou’s piece, the program will also feature music by Thierry Escaich, Nina Senk, and John Mackey.
